The Government has decided to defer the introduction of the $2,000 cap on work related education expense deductions until 1 July 2015.
Since the announcement of this cap a few months ago, there had been widespread protests from the education sector and professional associations. Thus, the government is deferring the delay, stating that they will perform further consultation to address the problem of excessive claims while ensuring that genuine expenses incurred for professional development is maintained.
